The Life Of A Scholar, LLC.
The Life Of A Scholar, LLC. is a community based organization that focuses on increasing the postsecondary achievement of underrepresented students, such as students of color and first-generation college students.
Our style is a mixture of sharing strategy, offering advice, and coaching our clients toward success.
We work with:
College and graduate students on how to achieve their academic goals while maintaining balance in their lives
Parents on how to support their students through their postsecondary journeys
Researchers on how to effectively and ethically study students
Organizations on how to create conditions that foster inclusive excellence and student success
We offer one-on-one and group sessions both in-person and via conference call or video conferencing.
Dr. Callie Womble Edwards founded The Life Of A Scholar, LLC. on February 12, 2015, as a way to "pay forward" the extraordinary enrichment opportunities she has benefited from. Dr. Edwards is a first-generation college student who earned her Ph.D. at the age of 27 with a 4.0 GPA. She funded her undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degrees with scholarships and grants, leaving her with no student loan debt.
Dr. Edwards is an experienced educational researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Professionally, Dr. Edwards has served for 8+ years in the areas of assessment, academic coaching, pre-college and new student programs, underrepresented student recruitment and retention, and student wellness. She has presented original research at 45+ state, regional, and national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Edwards' knowledge of "what works" for students in higher education derives from theory, research, and practice.
